In your search for a well-appointed, smaller crossover SUV, options like the Honda HR-V and the Honda CR-V are standout models. The subcompact 2025 HR-V is the entry-level model in the lineup, and the compact CR-V follows it. These models are mostly unchanged for the 2025 model year and have strong appeal, but they also have individuality that could make one a better option for you. What are the differences between these exciting possibilities?

Performance

All three of the 2025 Honda HR-V’s trim levels deliver the same performance. These trims are equipped with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with a CVT. The powertrain system includes standard front-wheel drive, or you can upgrade to all-wheel drive. The 2025 Honda CR-V is available with two powertrains and six trims. The gas-powered engine is a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbo engine with 190 horsepower. The hybrid powertrain is a four-cylinder unit that generates 204 horsepower. All CR-V trims have a continuously variable auto transmission. Most trims come with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is standard in the 2025 CR-V Sport.

Appearance

The small, sporty HR-V boasts crisp, angled accents and an arched roof across the sides. You will find lower-body molding along with five-spoke wheels from the side view. The rounded front end has a small grille, pointed headlamps, and almost flush air inlets. The 2025 CR-V is a larger model with a taller, flatter roof and smoother sides. The black side molding is subtly raised, and black accents cover the front and rear bumpers. The grille shows off a woven pattern, and the thin, long headlights are strongly accented with an LED bar.
